RubbaGrass® is an environmentally friendly, non-slip, impact absorbing safety surface. It is recycled, recyclable, and allows grass to grow through maintaining a natural appearance and function.
Grass will begin to grow through the matting within 4-6 weeks after installation. From this point, the area can be easily mowed. Any areas lacking in grass coverage following the addition of RubbaGrass® can be topped up with additional grass seed.
Tools commonly used to install RubbaGrass® includes a tape measure, secateurs, a stanley knife, rubber gloves, a hammer, grass edge cutters, a spade, string or spray paint, a rechargeable drill, and a 6mm drill bit.
Our rubber matting is easy enough for one person to install, but two or more people are recommended for an easier experience. One person can, for example, make holding down segments of the matting easier.
Both RubbaGrass® and RubbaSnow® come in black as standard, and RubbaGrass® also has the standard option of green (useful for blending in with grass). However, almost any colour is available upon request, just ask!
RubbaGrass® is a very cost-effective solution compared to other safety surfaces. Although it is difficult to give a vague idea of cost, we recommend setting aside roughly £50.00 per/m2 for budgeting purposes.
The installation of RubbaSnow® is very quick compared to other options of safety surfacing, and only requires tools already available to most people. Areas of up to 100sq/m can be easily laid in a day, over areas of around 500sq/m, may take a few days (depending on how many people are working on it).
If the installation process is done correctly, this shouldn’t be an issue. However, in rare cases, the soil type might not be strong enough, alone, to hold the matting in place. In this case, we can supply extra length pins to hold the matting in place. Contact us for more information.
Our mesh is UV stable and simple to install. We always recommend cutting the grass short when installing. This ensures that the mesh lays as close to the ground as possible. It is then easily unrolled and secured to the ground using metal U-pins. As the grass grows through the apertures, it intertwines with the mesh creating a strong, discreetly reinforced surface.
Grasshield® is easily installed onto existing grass or newly landscaped areas (laid on top of a level, well drained, seeded soil, pinned, and then covered with a layer of topsoil and seed), for both permanent or temporary applications. For the best results, we advise allowing the grass to fully establish. Depending on the season, this could take either a few weeks or a few months. The grass can then be mown as normal and it will retain its natural appearance.
Orders under 500sq/m in the EU should be delivered within 2 weeks. Please allow up to 4 weeks for either shipping outside the EU or orders of over 500sq/m.
There are a few good reasons to decide upon RubbaGrass® Lite. Most commonly, this matting is used to protect grass from areas of high footfall. We would recommend using regular RubbaGrass® in areas where there is likely to be greater fall height (playgrounds, for example), but for some cases, RubbaGrass® Lite will suffice. Additionally, RubbaSnow® Lite can be more easily installed in areas of low snowfall; the regular RubbaSnow® matting being thicker can allow larger quantities of snow to fall in-between its apertures.
